Ecologi project of the month | Protection of the Matavén Forest
We’ve been funding global ecological welfare projects through Ecologi for a few years now, to help us reach our carbon neutral goals and to do our bit for the planet.
In September, (as well as funding the planting of lots of trees) we helped to fund a couple of amazing ecological projects, one of which was the Matavén REDD+ project which protects 1,150,212 hectares of tropical forest in the Indigenous Reservation of the Matavén Forest.
Alongside the preservation of a hugely megadiverse area – Columbia is home to over 40,000 species of plants – Almost 16,000 local Indigenous people have also been supported through co-projects such as providing education, healthcare centres, dental services, sanitation and food security!
The work that’s being done is utterly incredible, and we’re elated to be part of it, even from afar.
Future fashionista’s develop their skills with us
We’ve been collaborating with the next generation of Fashion experts! Salford University asked if we could be used as inspiration for their second year Fashion Business and Promotion students. WHO, US? We whispered in flattered but demure shock, we then quickly accepted, before they changed their minds.
The students will be flexing their promo muscles 💪 making marketing campaigns, look books, packaging, brand designs and loads more, all based around us lucky lot! In December, they’ll be presenting us with their creations and we’re buzzed to see what they come up with.
It’s been lush getting to know our little group. It’s inspiring to see them being so passionate about their future craft, what a bunch of talented local legends!
And FINALLY! The Star of the Show…
Meet Olive. She’s just 14 weeks old, 15 cm’s tall, and potentially the most beautiful creature to ever grace this Earth. According to our social media manager Hannah (who happens to also be her owner) she is “cute and she knows it, hates rain, loves food, and is both sassy and stubborn”.
In other words, a natural idol.
She’s already made best friends with her cousin, a doberman named Margo. She has teeth like a baby shark, loves to chase feet (who doesn’t am I right) and she’s currently working on a political campaign for worldwide unlimited chicken.
