Our latest grüuming question comes from Josh, from Glasgow:
I think I must have oily skin as I’m prone to getting spots. Should I still use moisturiser, or will that make it worse?
That’s a great question! It’s really common for people suffering from breakouts to think that using moisturiser will escalate the problem, but this isn’t the case at all…
It’s a frequent misconception that all of the oil on your face is formed by the devil and should therefore be exorcised🙅♂️. In fact, some oils are necessary to keep your skin happy; it’s all about finding the balance.
It can be a bit tricky to get your head around, but oily skin can actually still be dehydrated. This is because the oil that your face produces is different to the good kind of hydration you get from a moisturiser.
When you skip the moisturiser, your skin becomes dehydrated, and over-compensates by producing more oil, which can lead to more breakouts – It’s a vicious cycle! To keep things under control, we’d recommend a daily dose of light moisturiser (like kåre), applied to a freshly washed face. We’ve specially formulated our moisturiser to be easily absorbed by the skin so it won’t leave you feeling greasy.
Another tip for keeping oily skin happy is to try adding our gösta tonic into your daily routine. It works to finish off the cleansing process after you’ve washed your face, preventing your pores from becoming clogged and keeping excess oil at bay.
